Once you are logged in WordPress hosting made easy with Cloudways click on the ‘Add server’ button on the top right corner. This will get you started While you have multiple options for content management systems on Cloudways, today we will focus on WordPress. WordPress is the most popular content management system since it allows users to create and manage websites easily with no code. There are three different versions of WordPress that you can choose from WordPress 6.11 with Cloudways optimization, Wordpress Multisite, and Clean WordPress with no optimization. So you can choose the best option for your website. WordPress 6.11 comes with Cloudways Optimization using the Breeze Plugin that helps improve the performance of your website This is an excellent choice for most individuals and small businesses. On the other hand, WordPress multisite is a great option for developers and agencies as it allows users to create a network of WordPress websites with a single installation for clean WordPress without any optimization. You can also opt for Clean WordPress without any optimization. So for this tutorial, I’ll just select WordPress 6.11. Second, you need to name your application and your server and you can keep the default project name. Next, we need to choose a cloud provider for our server. There are multiple options to choose from DigitalOcean, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud Engine. DigitalOcean is known for its high performance and competitive pricing. Amazon Web Services, or AWS, offers a wide array of services and global coverage but it could be a bit overwhelming for beginners. Google Cloud Engine or GCE also offers global coverage and robust services but its pricing could be less predictable. For our purpose today, we’ll be using DigitalOcean. Now, let’s talk about choosing the right RAM size. RAM directly impacts your site’s performance. The more RAM you have, the more data your server can handle at once. For most beginners or small-scale websites, 1GB or 2GB should be sufficient. But as your site grows, you might need to consider increasing it. This is easy to do with Cloudways since you can scale your server with just one click when you need to. We have little disk icons here showing Premium Droplet Servers from Digital Ocean with Premium Droplets. You can now host your application on high-performing, entry-level servers based on Intel’s latest Xeon infrastructure without paying a premium amount. If you opt for a standard server when you start, you can always scale up to premium whenever you want to. You just move up the slider here there is not much difference in price for the standard and premium versions for the smallest 1GB server you’re paying just $2 over the Basic Droplet for the new, faster tech. Cloudways also has metered billing so you can easily see the price difference here Cloudways uses a pay-as-you-go model which means you only pay for the resources you consume. If you use a server for an hour you will only be charged for an hour. So you can spin up the servers, delete them and duplicate them however and whenever you want. Lastly, let’s choose the best data center for your needs. Data centers are physical locations where your server is housed selecting a data center closer to your target audience can significantly improve your website speed and reduce latency. For example, if your visitors will mostly be from the UK, it would be best to choose London as your data center. Once you are satisfied with all your selections, it’s time to click launch now! Sit back and relax as Cloudways manages the rest for you. In just a few minutes, your WordPress site will be up and running on your DigitalOcean server. So that’s it! Your WordPress application is now installed on Cloudways. You can access your newly installed WordPress application by clicking on this staging URL. If you see the page on the screen, it means everything has been configured successfully. To log in to your WordPress website, simply go to application management access details admin panel There you will find the admin username and password for your WordPress application. Click the URL then copy and paste the credentials to access the WordPress admin panel. I hope this video has been helpful in getting you started with Cloudways and understanding the basics of launching a WordPress site on DigitalOcean.
