About Prosit AS

prosit as homepage

Running a growing digital product is hard enough without your hosting getting in the way. The team at Prosit AS is well aware of this. Their custom software for catering businesses, Order Arena, relies heavily on WordPress. As their client list expanded, managing dozens of WordPress instances became a significant bottleneck.

Initially, they started hosting on virtual machines, then moved to Kubernetes. However, backups were daunting, staging was tedious, and updates consumed valuable time. A simple mistake could trigger a panicked scramble, undermining their reliability. It was clear they needed a smarter, more sustainable solution that could scale easily with the OrderArena customer adoption.

That’s when they found Cloudways. They needed a platform that would handle the technical heavy lifting, so they could focus on building their product. The difference was immediate, freeing their small team from endless server management.

Want to see how they upgraded their workflow and impressed their clients with faster sites? Read the full conversation with CTO Grzegorz Brzezinka to learn more.

Could you please start by describing your digital product company, including your team size, the primary market you serve, and what you believe is your unique value proposition?

Grzegorz Brzezinka: I am the CTO of Prosit AS, a Norway-based company with a headquarters in Lillehammer. We have a sister company, Prosit Poland, and we currently have 16 people in total. We’ve been in the market for almost ten years. We are an innovative software house that develops custom integrations, custom software, AI/LLM adoption, and cybersecurity for business customers.

– The Prosit AS team innovates in AI, software, and cybersecurity while streamlining operations and scaling efficiently with Cloudways.

One of our areas is product development, and we offer a system called Order Arena that helps catering businesses manage their organization. The product’s sales module heavily relies on WordPress, and we developed a WordPress plugin for it. This led to the need to host many WordPress instances, which ultimately led us to Cloudways.

What were the most significant challenges and pain points you faced with your previous web hosting solution before switching to Cloudways?

Grzegorz Brzezinka: Initially, as Order Arena grew, we hosted on virtual machines, which was quite painful. The key pain points were:

  • Backup and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Staging environments and cloning between staging and production for testing.
  • The time required to set up new instances and perform upgrades.

We then switched to Kubernetes, but that introduced new challenges around managing persistence, syncing storage, and writing custom scripts for disaster recovery. It was far from optimal and required significant internal resources to manage these instances for our customers. As our customer database increased, we needed a more sustainable solution.

Results after migrating to Cloudways:

  • 5x hosting cost reduction (compared to DigitalOcean Kubernetes cluster)
  • 10x less maintenance time, saving around 20 hours monthly based on the current number of sites

How did these previous hosting limitations directly impact your business operations, your team’s productivity, and your ability to reliably serve your clients?

Grzegorz Brzezinka: We had a couple of incidents where a customer mistakenly deleted something, or a misconfiguration occurred, or a test version of the plugin was used in production. We needed to recover, and our procedures didn’t work well, causing panic on our side. This made it clear our solution was not sustainable.

Our requirements for a new solution were that it should manage WordPress and remove the management overhead from our team, using battle-tested scripts for setup, staging, backup, and restoration.

Why did Cloudways ultimately stand out as the preferred hosting solution for your company’s specific needs and technical requirements?

Grzegorz Brzezinka: We tested a couple of solutions. The key factors for choosing Cloudways were:

  1. Ease of Migration: Other tools required manual backup, restoring files/media/databases, and manually changing references. With Cloudways, the migration plugin made it happen out of the box. You just need to grant proper permissions, and the new setup is done. Then you change the DNS and you’re live.

    2. Performance improvements: Cloudways provides an optimized server tech stack for hosting WordPress apps. All the parts, starting with PHP-FPM and supported by optimized cache solutions based on Memcached, Varnish, and Redis. It’s offered as managed services, so there is no need for manual maintenance. Moreover, they offer a convenient Breeze plugin that automates the caching setup on the app side.

– The Cloudways Platform gives Prosit full control and visibility, allowing them to manage all their client sites from a single, streamlined dashboard and save 20+ hours each month.

Where has the performance and reliability of Cloudways had the most noticeable positive effect on your client projects or internal applications?

Grzegorz Brzezinka: Our customers have noticed, without even being asked, that the websites are significantly faster due to the caching Cloudways offers. We get this for free without needing to configure it per instance.

Performance results after migration:

  • Load time improvements: 2–3x faster
  • All key Lighthouse metrics improved:
    • LCP (Largest Contentful Paint): 2x on desktop, nearly 3x on mobile
    • FCP (First Contentful Paint): 3x on desktop, 2x on mobile
    • Speed Index: 2x improvement

Additionally, the backup and restore features are straightforward to use in the UI. The staging environment, which was a major pain point, is now a matter of a couple of clicks. We can create a staging site from the production instance, collaborate with the customer, and when ready, easily copy the configuration back to production.

When dealing with a potential security threat or needing to perform routine updates, how does the Cloudways Platform simplify these processes for your team?

Grzegorz Brzezinka: We hosted WordPress on Kubernetes and had scanning tools in place. But all they did was tell us, “Hey, you need to upgrade!” With so many instances to handle, it ended up taking a lot of time.

In Cloudways, it’s super easy. We have configured automated WordPress upgrades. The plugins are also configured to download new versions automatically. Cloudways maintains infrastructure components (servers). There is no overhead on our side; you configure it once and forget about it.

Which three specific features of the Cloudways hosting platform would you identify as absolutely essential for a digital product company like yours, and why?

Grzegorz Brzezinka: The top features are:

  • The ease of setup and migration of existing sites.
  • Built-in backup and recovery procedures.
  • Caching that makes websites very fast and available.
  • The straightforward setup of staging environments.

– With features like one-click staging and automated backups, Prosit’s team can now deploy and test new features in minutes, not hours.

Cloudways: As part of your infrastructure transition, we’d love to understand your experience. How has your experience been with the Cloudways Support team?

Grzegorz Brzezinka: During our migration from multiple sources (custom VMs, bare metal, Kubernetes, other hosting providers), we encountered some file permission issues. When I contacted support, I received an immediate response and was guided step-by-step. Within a couple of minutes, I got the help I needed, and the migration process was completed successfully after that. It was flawless.

Cloudways: What are your thoughts on the pay-as-you-go pricing plans?

Grzegorz Brzezinka: I am pleased with the pricing of Cloudways. I think it’s priced just fair enough. We do not yet need higher-tier subscriptions, but we might in the future as the number of sites we manage grows. I’m satisfied with the Cloudways offering and I’m strongly convinced I will be their long-term customer.

To whom in your professional network, specifically other digital product companies, would you confidently recommend Cloudways, and what would be your core message to them?

Grzegorz Brzezinka: We have recommended Cloudways to our partners at conferences and business dinners. The top reason is the ease of maintenance. Our specialty is B2B software development and high-tech consultancy. We don’t want to spend time and internal resources on managing WordPress ourselves.

Cloudways solves all the pain points of WordPress hosting at a fraction of the cost compared to the many hours we would need to spend internally.
